When you pick up your rented vehicle, you should make sure that all the important on-board tools are in the car. The tyre pressure should also be checked.
In Namibia, Botswana and South Africa you drive on the left-hand side of the road.
The speed limit in towns is 60 km/h, unless otherwise indicated.
A maximum of 80 km/h applies on gravel roads and 120 km/h on tarred roads,
unless otherwise indicated.
It is compulsory to wear seat belts and the use of mobile phones is prohibited whilst driving.
The driver’s license must always be carried with you. Each driver must be in possession of their original valid national driver’s license from their home country.
It is also required to have an international driver’s license.
Street signs are predominantly international and even national signs are easy to understand.
Cars should be securely locked when parked. Make use of the car guards in the town parking areas.
Always be aware of game and larger birds next to the road.
The main rainy season extends from January to April. Sporadic downpours do not have a significant impact on traffic, but tourists should exercise caution when crossing a riverbed during the rainy season.
